FRANKLIN, TN — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A new documentary film, The Retirement Reset, will make its world premiere on May 5, 2026, in Franklin, Tennessee, bringing national attention to growing concerns around retirement security, “The Great Taking,” the Next Great Depression, and the future of retirement for millions of Americans.

The film arrives at a time when millions of Americans are approaching retirement amid growing concerns about market volatility, inflation, and long-term financial security.

Produced by the founder of Retirement Renegade Andrew Winnett, CFF, The Retirement Reset is a documentary that examines risks facing retirement savings, “The Great Taking,” the next great depression, and the challenges many Americans face when trying to turn their life savings into reliable retirement income. The film features interviews with economists, financial professionals, policymakers, and public figures including Tucker Carlson, Ben Stein, ITR Economics with Lauren Saidel-Baker, Bud Hulsey, Don Grande, Alex Newman, Justin Haskins, Sheryl Moore, Tom Hegna, Roy H. Williams, John Di Domenico, Julie Auch, and James Patrick.

The documentary explores questions many Americans are beginning to ask: Are retirement accounts as secure as people believe? What happens to retirement savings during major economic downturns? And most importantly, how can individuals build retirement plans designed to provide income they cannot outlive?

According to the film’s creator, the documentary was inspired by a personal experience that changed the course of his life.

“My dad passed away unexpectedly when he was 45 years old, and my mom was left with a mortgage, two kids at home, and no income. She received life insurance money and was terrified of losing it. When I saw how the financial system worked and how much people could lose to fees, market downturns, and poor planning, I knew there had to be a better way. I made this film because people deserve to understand the risks they face in retirement and what they can do about it.” — Andrew Winnett, Producer of The Retirement Reset

The film positions retirement not just as an investment problem, but as an income and planning problem—and aims to start a broader conversation about how Americans can better prepare for retirement and an economic collapse. The project is part of a broader mission focused on helping people build retirement income strategies and educate people how to put pressure on their local policy makers to change retirement planning.

The world premiere will take place May 5, 2026, in Franklin, Tennessee, with additional screenings and distribution planned following the premiere.

Producer Statement

In Andrew Winnett’s own words

“I didn’t set out to make a movie. I set out to solve a problem.

When I was younger, my dad passed away unexpectedly at 45 years old. My mom was left with a mortgage, two kids still at home, and no income. She received life insurance money, and I remember how terrified she was of losing it. She wasn’t worried about getting rich. She was worried about running out of money and losing everything.

Years later, when I entered the financial industry, I thought I was going to help people. But the more I learned, the more I realized that most people weren’t being shown how retirement actually works. They were being sold products, portfolios, and market returns—but very few people were being shown how to turn their life savings into income they could rely on for the rest of their lives.

I started asking bigger questions. What happens if the market crashes right before someone retires? What happens if inflation rises? What happens if taxes go up? What happens if people live longer than expected? And most importantly—what happens if people run out of income?

That’s why I made The Retirement Reset. This film is about education and awareness. It’s about helping people understand the risks they face and the decisions they need to make. My hope is that this film starts a conversation across the country about retirement, UCC Article 8, “The Great Taking,” the next great depression, and helps people take action so they can retire with confidence and peace of mind.”

The Great Taking refers to a legal structure under UCC Article 8 of the Uniform Commercial Code. Under this structure, assets held in brokerage accounts, IRAs, and 401(k)s are not legally owned by the investor in the same way cash in a wallet is. In a financial collapse, the institution holding those assets may have legal priority over account holders—meaning creditors can be paid before you are.

This is not a theory—it has happened over 190 times in American history. Most financial advisors have never discussed this with their clients. The Retirement Reset covers what The Great Taking is, why it matters, and what a genuinely protected retirement structure looks like.
